All About One Year Masters Programs
Traditionally, masters degree programs could be completed in two to three years of full time study. These programs generally range from 30 to 60 graduate credits. Recently, a slew of accelerated programs have come out. These allow the student to complete a two or three year degree in only a single year. These one year master’s programs are available in quite a few different subject areas. I have collected a list of them, sorted by subject area below. One year masters programs are great for people who already have experience in the field and do not want to have to take years off of working in order to get a degree. One year masters programs are intense, you are still doing the same amount of work, only in half the time. You have to be a highly motivated, hard worker, in order to make this program type work for you.
One Year Masters Program in Arts and Architecture
California Polytechnic State University offers a one year post-professional masters program in Architecture. The MS in Architecture is usually completed in a single year, but some students may take 18-24 months to complete it. You can focus on an area such as Computer Aided Design, Architectural Science, or Facilities Management.
Virginia Tech also offers a one year post-professional Masters of Architecture. This program is for students who have completed a professional five year B.Arch program.
The New Jersey Institute of Technology offers two one year MS in Architecture degrees. The first is the post-professional degree. The second is a concentration in sustainable architecture.
Wentworth Institute of Technology offers a one year post-professional MS in Architecture program. This program is only for graduates of Wentworth’s Bachelor’s of Architecture program. All other students will have to complete two years of study.
Harvard University offers the MS in Architecture post-professional degree as a one year program.
New York University offers a one year MA in Arts Politics.
The University of Illinois at Chicago also offers a one year post-professional MS in Architecture. They also offer a post-professional MS in Health Design degree.
University of Southern California offers a one year masters program in Visual Anthropology. This program focuses on ethnographic documentary production. In order to be admitted into this program, you need to have a background in anthropology, documentary film, or ethnographic film. This is a 28 credit program.

Concordia University offers a one year online Masters of Education program. It is available in Educational Leadership or Curriculum and Instruction. Within Curriculum and Instruction, you can have a concentration of: Adolescent Literacy, Career and Technical Education, ELearning-Technology Education, English Language Development, English for Speakers of Other Languages, Environmental Education, the Inclusive Classroom, Early Childhood Education, Mathematics, Methods and Curriculum, Reading, Science and Teacher Leadership.
